Job Description:
Under general supervision, the Medical Technologist/MLS is accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.Logan Regional Hospital is a 146-bed community hospital located in Northern Utah in the beautiful Cache Valley. Logan Regional is a Trauma III designated center and provides advanced technology and highly skilled care to the community. Key services include Cancer Care, Women & Newborn, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Cardiology, and Behavioral Health. Our Medical Group presence includes two clinics, one Instacare clinic, and the Budge Clinic, which shares our campus.
Our hospital serves a population of some 150,000 in Cache, Rich, Box Elder, and Franklin counties and western Wyoming. Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital is the official medical provider to Utah State University and several area high schools. With roots that can be traced back to 1914, Logan Regional Hospital and its predecessors have been serving Cache Valley and its surrounding communities for 100 years.
Scope:
The Registered/Unregistered Medical Lab Scientist performs testing in various departments of the clinical lab, such as Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Transfusion, and more. These scientists act as a technical expert to clinical staff, co-workers, and other departments. They are critical to patient diagnosis and care, ensuring accurate results through quality control, proficiency testing, calibrations, record review, instrument maintenance, and results/analyzer troubleshooting.
